Giovanna Santini

Giovanna Santini is Associate Professor of Romance Philology and Linguistics at the University of Tuscia since 2015. In 2017 she obtained the scientific qualification as full professor. She deals with: medieval Romance poetry (Provençal, French and Italian), in particular with the metric and rhyming aspects, the lyrical lexicon, the textual tradition and intertextuality; Provençal and French novels of the thirteenth century characterized by the dialogue with the lyric tradition and by the integration between Occitan and Oitanic cultures (Flamenca, Joufroi de Poitiers and Guillaume de Dole); cognitive processes that influence the translation of literary works from a linguistic, formal and content point of view. She collaborated on several Prin projects between the years 2002-2023. She also studied the first translations into Castilian verse of the most important Italian literary works, The Divine Comedy of Dante Alighieri and Canzoniere of Petrarca. She participates in the editing of journals of international importance (“Critica del Testo”, “Cognitive Philology”) and is a member of the main national and international Romance philology societies.
